About the Opportunity
Akicita is seeking a Training Specialist / Instructional Designer to build the training program for a nationwide Indian Health Service (IHS) immunization reporting initiative.
This is a remote, part-time engagement (approximately 360 hours over a 12-month base period beginning August 2026).
Why Join Us
Your training will equip clinicians and program staff across Indian Country to turn immunization data into action — and higher vaccination coverage.
What You'll Do
- Develop the overall training approach and plan for IHS providers, program staff, and end users of immunization data systems
- Design and build two training modalities: (1) a self-paced module learners can complete independently, and (2) an instructor-led curriculum and guide the IHS HQ immunization team will use to deliver in-person and virtual trainings
- Create the full training product suite: instructor guide, participant workbook/quick reference guide, slide deck, job aids, and case studies/practice scenarios
- Apply adult learning principles and address multiple learning modalities; map every learning objective to a job behavior (accessing reports, interpreting data, identifying coverage gaps, informing outreach and recall, monitoring progress)
- Deliver virtual train-the-trainer sessions to the IHS HQ immunization team and coach them on presenting the training to end users
- Refine and finalize the training package based on Government feedback, delivering editable source files for long-term IHS use
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Public Health, Organizational Development, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience developing and delivering adult-learning curricula, virtual training, instructor-led training materials, job aids, and learning products
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting healthcare or public health programs
- eLearning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline/Rise, Captivate) and SCORM packaging experience
- Train-the-trainer program design experience; Kirkpatrick evaluation methods
- Section 508-compliant course design; experience designing for low-bandwidth/rural learners
