Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Physician Assistant to join our Ambulatory Surgical Center team. This role focuses on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care throughout the outpatient surgical process. Responsibilities include conducting pre-operative evaluations, managing post-operative recovery, prescribing medications, educating patients, and collaborating closely with surgeons and clinical staff. Depending on specialty and applicable regulations, the PA may also assist with or perform minor procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-operative assessments, including reviewing medical histories, performing physical exams, and ordering necessary labs to determine surgical readiness
- Educate patients on procedures, risks, recovery expectations, pain management, and post-operative care
- Ensure informed consent is properly obtained and documented
- Provide post-operative care by monitoring recovery, managing pain, and addressing complications
- Prescribe and administer medications as appropriate for post-surgical treatment
- Coordinate discharge planning, including follow-up appointments and patient instructions
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, care plans, and patient progress notes
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives focused on enhancing patient outcomes and operational efficiency
Qualifications
- Active PA-C license with applicable specialty certification (Acute Care, Surgical, or related specialty preferred)
- Prior surgical or perioperative experience strongly preferred
- Excellent clinical judgment, assessment, and decision-making abilities
- Strong communication and patient education skills
- Ability to work independently and respond effectively in urgent situations
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred

Experience & Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of vascular and/or endovascular experience required
- Wound care experience preferred
- Strong leadership, organizational, and collaborative skills
- Comfortable using basic computer systems; EHR experience preferred
Work Environment
This role is primarily clinic-based, averaging approximately 15 patients per day, and also includes vascular consultations within nursing home settings. The position may involve exposure to blood-borne pathogens; OSHA training is required. Standard office and clinical equipment will be used regularly.
