Responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care assistance including helping with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Monitor patient health through regular observation of vital signs and assessment of overall condition.
- Assist with medication administration following prescribed schedules and medical documentation protocols while maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support patients with memory care needs, including dementia or Alzheimer’s care, utilizing specialized techniques to ensure safety and comfort.
- Operate EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems to accurately document patient information, medical records, and care activities.
- Facilitate safe patient transfers using appropriate methods such as Hoyer lifts or transfer belts while adhering to proper patient transfer techniques.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary requirements and assist with light housekeeping tasks like cleaning and laundry to maintain a healthy living environment.
- Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals, family members, and community resources to coordinate ongoing care plans.
- Ensure compliance with home healthcare regulations and standards for hospice, palliative, or end-of-life care when applicable.
- Respond promptly to emergencies by applying first aid or basic life support (BLS) techniques including CPR when necessary.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working as a caregiver in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home healthcare settings.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medication management, catheter care, and vital signs monitoring.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia, geriatrics, or hospice needs is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with home health agency operations and home & community care regulations.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate patient transfer equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction and family updates while maintaining patient confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
- Certification in first aid and CPR required; additional BLS certification preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as a live-in caregiver while managing multiple responsibilities effectively.

Pay: $22.78 - $27.44 per hour
