Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Form Carpenter to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for constructing, installing, and dismantling formwork systems used to shape concrete structures on various construction projects. Your expertise in blueprint reading, concrete forming, and working with heavy tools will ensure the successful execution of building foundations, walls, floors, and other concrete elements. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale renovation, commercial, or residential projects while maintaining a strong focus on safety and precision.
Duties
- Interpret construction plans and blueprints to determine formwork specifications and layout requirements.
- Construct and assemble formwork using hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment to create molds for concrete pouring.
- Install rebar reinforcement within formwork according to technical drawings and safety standards.
- Operate concrete mixers, pumps, and cutting tools to facilitate efficient concrete pouring and finishing processes.
- Ensure all formwork is properly aligned, levelled, and secured to withstand the pressure of poured concrete.
- Maintain strict adherence to construction workplace safety regulations and safety protocols during all phases of work.
- Assist in the installation of hardscape elements such as paving stones or retaining walls as part of larger construction or renovation projects.
- Perform heavy lifting tasks safely when handling form panels, rebar, or other materials.
- Conduct quality checks on formwork structures before concrete pouring to prevent defects or failures.
- Support other trades such as masonry or plastering teams by providing accurate forms for their work.
Experience
- Proven experience working on construction sites with a focus on formwork construction and concrete forming techniques.
- Strong knowledge of blueprint specification interpretation and technical drawing comprehension.
- Hands-on experience operating hand tools, power tools, heavy equipment (such as forklifts or cranes), and concrete pumps.
- Familiarity with construction estimating processes related to formwork materials and labor costs is a plus.
- Understanding of construction workplace safety regulations including OSHA standards or equivalent safety protocols.
- Experience in rebar installation, concrete cutting, pouring, finishing, and pumping is highly desirable.
- Background in masonry, flooring installation, or hardscape work enhances versatility in this role.
