HEAVY EQUIPMENT MASTER MECHANIC
R.E. Staite is a small business, heavy civil general engineering contractor, with its facilities located in San Diego, California. For over 80 years, R.E. Staite has specialized in marine and heavy construction, piers, wharfs, marinas, deep pile foundations, bridge construction and dredging, successfully completing projects along the western seaboard from Panama to Alaska. R.E. Staite performs a high percentage of projects with its own forces and specialty equipment.
R.E. Staite is seeking a full time Heavy Master Equipment Mechanic
Responsibilities:
- Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and providing quality repairs on Construction Equipment in both shop and field environment
- Perform the necessary service, preventative maintenance, repairs, replacements, installations, or re-building of parts to restore various heavy equipment to proper operation
- Service and maintenance includes components such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical, computer and repairs including welding
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- 10 years mechanical experience in heavy construction equipment & cranes
- Troubleshoot machine breakdowns, diagnosis and provide estimated repairs
- Electric diagnosis and troubleshooting, reading diagrams
- Diesel engines (common rail systems electronics injectors/ Catalytic converter)
- Hydraulic diagnosis and trouble shooting
- Welding
- Utilize computer diagnostic equipment
- Complete set of tools
- Maintain current forklift operator training certification
- Friction crane experience and certification a plus
- Ensure guards and safety devices are functioning properly
- Write clear parts requisitions and service write-ups
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly, initial health check required
- Must be willing to work odd hours on occasion, outside of normal working hours, including nights and weekends
- Prioritize Safety and Awareness at the jobsite
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, clients, and the general public at all times
- Must have a valid U.S. driver's license, pass a drug test, and be able to pass a Federal background investigation
