The ideal candidate possesses a strong commitment to supporting children with developmental disabilities, particularly those with autism spectrum disorder. As a RBT, you work directly with children to implement individualized behavior intervention plans, promote skill development, and enhance quality of life through the evidence-based practices of applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy. The RBT position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children while gaining valuable experience in behavioral therapy and special education.
Duties
- Implement behavior intervention plans developed by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) to support children’s behavior and skill development goals.
- Collect and record data on progress, behavior incidents, and skill acquisition to provide informational needs for treatment adjustments.
- Assist child clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including grooming, hygiene, feeding, and other self-care routines.
- Use positive reinforcement strategies and behavior management techniques to promote desired behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors.
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, and team members to ensure consistency in intervention strategies across settings.
- Support child clients during therapy sessions by teaching communication skills, social interactions, and adaptive behaviors.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations and ensure accurate documentation within medical records and care plans.
- Participate in ongoing training related to behavioral health, medical terminology, data collection methods, and ethical standards for patient care.
Skills
- Strong understanding of behavioral therapy principles and applied behavior analysis techniques.
- Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder.
- Assist with ADLs and implement teaching strategies tailored to individual needs.
- Excellent data collection skills for tracking client progress accurately and efficiently.
- Knowledge of medical documentation practices, medical terminology, and maintaining compliant medical records.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, families, and caregivers.
