The Senior Engineer is the technical leader at StrikeWorks, responsible for the quality of engineering delivery across every client environment and for serving as the final technical backstop for all engineers and staff. This role is both hands-on and client-facing, blending advanced project engineering, escalation ownership, and team mentorship with strategic advisory work as a trusted Technical Advisor to our clients. The Senior Engineer leads and executes complex projects, sets and enforces engineering standards, and partners directly with clients to translate business goals into secure, scalable, and well-documented technology roadmaps. The ideal candidate is a seasoned MSP engineer with deep infrastructure and security expertise, strong leadership instincts, and the communication skills to advise both technical teams and client leadership.
Key Requirements:
- 7+ years of IT experience, with at least 3 years in a senior engineering, lead, or engineering management role, preferably within an MSP.
- Deep hands-on expertise across Microsoft 365, Windows Server, networking, virtualization, backup/DR, and cloud infrastructure (Azure).
- Strong security background, including experience with EDR, MFA, patching, and platforms such as ThreatLocker.
- Proven ability to serve as the top escalation point and technical backstop for a team of engineers.
- Experience scoping, planning, and delivering complex infrastructure and migration projects on time and on budget.
- Client-facing advisory experience, with the ability to lead business reviews, build IT roadmaps, and advise on budgets and lifecycle planning.
- Excellent leadership, mentorship, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to translate technical risk and strategy into clear, business-focused recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong documentation habits and a process-oriented, standards-driven mindset.

Job Functions: (Included but not limited to)
- Technical Leadership & Escalation
- Serve as the final technical backstop for all engineers and staff, owning the most complex and high-impact escalations.
- Provide real-time guidance and hands-on assistance to the service desk and project teams on advanced troubleshooting.
- Set the technical direction and hold engineers accountable to engineering standards and best practices.
- Identify recurring technical issues and drive permanent, root-cause solutions across the client base.
Project Engineering & Delivery
- Scope, design, and lead delivery of complex infrastructure, migration, security, and cloud projects.
- Act as lead engineer on high-stakes or high-risk project work, ensuring technical quality and successful outcomes.
- Develop project plans, milestones, and technical documentation, and review engineering work before delivery.
- Partner with Sales and Project Coordination to produce accurate scopes of work, bills of materials, and realistic timelines.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to StrikeWorks quality standards.
Technical Advisory (Client-Facing)
- Serve as the trusted Technical Advisor for assigned clients, owning the technology strategy and long-term IT roadmap.
- Lead Quarterly Business Reviews and annual planning meetings, presenting risks, recommendations, and budgets to client leadership.
- Translate business objectives into secure, scalable technology plans, including lifecycle and refresh planning.
- Build trusted advisor relationships with client stakeholders up to and including executive leadership.
- Advise clients on security posture, compliance readiness, and strategic investments that reduce risk and improve operations.
Team Development & Mentorship
- Mentor, coach, and develop engineers, elevating the overall technical capability of the team.
- Lead technical training, knowledge sharing, and skill-building initiatives across engineering and support staff.
- Provide technical input into performance expectations and professional development plans.
Standards, Documentation & Tooling
- Define, document, and enforce engineering standards, SOPs, and best practices across all client environments.
- Evaluate and recommend new tools, platforms, and technologies for internal use and client deployments.
- Ensure client documentation, runbooks, and network records are accurate, complete, and current.
- Champion appropriate use of RMM, PSA, and security tooling, including ThreatLocker, ConnectWise, and Microsoft environments.
EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree in a technical field and relevant experience preferred.
- Extensive experience in a managed service provider (MSP) or comparable IT services environment.
- Demonstrated success leading engineering teams and delivering complex technical projects.
- Proven experience in a client-facing technical advisory capacity.
- Hands-on implementation experience with security platforms such as ThreatLocker, SentinelOne, Huntress, or equivalent.
- Ability to work sitting down in front of a computer for long hours every day.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft (AZ/MS series), CompTIA (Network+, Security+), CISSP, or ITIL.
- Experience with Azure, cloud architecture, and hybrid infrastructure design.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (HIPAA, SOC 2, CIS, etc.).
- Strong project management skills and familiarity with structured delivery methodology.
- Experience creating SOPs, technical documentation, and IT roadmaps.
- High degree of professionalism and confident executive-level communication.
- Good time-management skills with a problem-solving attitude.
