Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote independence and dignity.
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, recognizing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately to healthcare professionals.
- Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary.
- Facilitate patient transfer methods using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or patient transfer techniques to ensure safe mobility.
- Maintain cleanliness of resident living areas through regular cleaning routines, ensuring a hygienic environment.
- Provide emotional support through active listening, engaging in conversation, and fostering a positive atmosphere for residents.
Requirements
- Prior experience working with individuals in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, autism support, intellectual disabilities support, and neurodevelopmental disorders is advantageous.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional training in manual handling or heavy lifting is a plus.
- Familiarity with patient observation techniques, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and care planning is essential.
- Ability to perform light to heavy lifting safely and use patient transfer devices effectively.
- Strong communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration while maintaining confidentiality per HIPAA standards.
- Experience working with diverse populations including geriatrics, developmental disabilities, or hospice care is beneficial.
