Meat Clerk
We are seeking a dependable, customer-focused Meat Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate takes pride in maintaining high standards of product quality, cleanliness, and customer service while supporting daily operations within the meat department.
This role is responsible for stocking, merchandising, preparing products, and assisting customers with their meat and seafood selections.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers with product selection, special orders, and questions regarding meat and seafood items.
- Stock, rotate, and replenish products while following FIFO procedures.
- Package, label, and price products accurately.
- Maintain attractive, fully stocked displays and service cases.
- Monitor product quality, freshness, and expiration dates.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
- Clean and sanitize equipment, counters, coolers, and work areas.
- Assist with inventory counts and receiving deliveries.
- Support the preparation of value-added products and seasonal offerings.
- Work collaboratively with department team members to ensure excellent customer service.
Requirements
- Previous grocery, meat department, butcher shop, or food service experience preferred.
- Knowledge of meat products, cuts, and safe food handling practices is a plus.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to safely operate department equipment following proper training.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to stand, bend, and work in refrigerated environments for extended periods.
- Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Positive attitude and commitment to teamwork.
