Position Overview
At Wild Birds Unlimited, the difference between us and other retailers goes far beyond the products we sell—it's who we are. Our Sales Associates provide knowledgeable advice, exceptional customer service, and a welcoming shopping experience that keeps customers coming back.
As a Sales Associate, you'll help customers select the right products for their needs, share your enthusiasm for backyard birds and nature, and contribute to the daily operations of the store. Your professionalism, positive attitude, and commitment to customer service will help make a meaningful difference in our customers' lives.
Qualifications
- Friendly, outgoing personality with a genuine passion for customer service.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage customers in conversation and confidently make product recommendations.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn about bird feeding, birdwatching, nature, and related products.
- Retail sales or customer service experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to operate a point-of-sale (POS) system and handle transactions accurately.
- Willingness to assist with stocking, merchandising, cleaning, and other daily store responsibilities.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, including bags of bird seed and merchandise.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and eagerness to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of backyard birds, bird feeding, gardening, or other nature-related hobbies or willingness to learn.
- Previous retail sales experience.
- Experience working in a small business environment.
