Role Summary:
The Cross Country Head Coach will oversee the full operation of the cross country program and lead the team with a focus on excellence, accountability and sportsmanship. Responsibilities include organizing practices, preparing athletes for competition, managing team structure and developing players on and off the field.
NOTE: this is a part-time position during the fall cross country season. It is not a full-time position and no benefits are available.
Key Responsibilities:
The head coach will partner with the athletics department to maintain clear communication with families, support game-day operations, uphold program expectations and ensure compliance with school and IHSA policies.
This role is designed for a coach who can build a strong team culture and continue moving the program forward.
Ideal Candidate:
- Prior experience coaching boys and girls cross country.
- Comfortable interacting with Hope athletic staff and parents to effectively lead program.
- Manage assistant coach(es) to follow program's guidelines
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of cross country skills, development, rules and training.
- Aligned with Hope’s mission and core values.
- Represent Hope and students in professional manner.
- Work to develop our runners into respectful competitors.
Work Environment:
The coach will primarily work with students on our cross country fields to develop skills and cooperation for Hope players.
Compensation:
Monthly stipend during fall cross country season.
