Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The Machinist will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining various machining equipment to produce precision metal components. This role is vital in ensuring that parts meet strict quality standards and specifications through expert use of manual and CNC machining techniques. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency with measurement tools, and experience in interpreting technical blueprints. Responsibilities
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
- Operate CNC machines such as lathes and milling centers, utilizing G-code and M-code programming for precise manufacturing.
- Perform manual machining tasks using hand tools, grinders, calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other precision measurement instruments.
- Set up and calibrate machinery including CNC lathe and milling machines, ensuring proper tooling and machine alignment.
- Conduct quality inspections using measurement tools to verify dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes in accordance with GD&T standards.
- Maintain accurate machine setup records, tool offsets, and process parameters to ensure consistent production.
- Troubleshoot machine issues promptly to minimize downtime while maintaining safety protocols.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on CAM programming using SolidWorks, CAD software, and CNC programming techniques.
- Support manufacturing processes by adjusting tooling or machine parameters to optimize efficiency.
- Assist in the assembly of machined components as required.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Machinist with expertise in CNC programming (Fanuc or similar controllers) and manual machining.
- Proficiency in reading mechanical blueprints and interpreting mechanical blueprints accurately.
- Strong knowledge of machining tools including lathes, mills, grinders, calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and power tools.
- Familiarity with CAM software such as SolidWorks or CAD systems for toolpath generation.
- Experience with CNC G-code programming (including M-code) for precision manufacturing.
- Mechanical knowledge related to metal machining processes and quality control procedures.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations necessary for measurement conversions and tolerances.
- Understanding of GD&T principles for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Knowledge of measurement techniques for quality control using precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to set up machines efficiently while adhering to safety standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement in machining processes.
