Overview:
As a Medical Assistant at Spectrum Health Services, you will be a key member of the care team — supporting healthcare providers and helping deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. You will perform a mix of clinical and administrative duties to help ensure efficient operations and a positive patient experience.
Responsibilities:
- Greet patients, take and record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight, etc.).
- Collect patient medical history, chief complaints, and document relevant information for provider review.
- Prepare and room patients for provider visits: setting up exam rooms, preparing supplies/equipment, ensuring a clean and safe environment.
- Assist healthcare providers during examinations or minor procedures.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with applicable health-care regulations (HIPAA, OSHA, infection control protocols, etc.).
- Check in and check out patients; greet and register patients; verify and update patient information.
- Schedule appointments, manage follow-ups and referrals to specialists or labs as needed.
- Maintain, update, and file patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Manage clinic inventory and supplies, ensure treatment rooms are stocked and organized.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; graduation from medical assistant program or relevant certification preferred.
- Competency in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and basic office software.
- Strong communication skills — able to interact compassionately and professionally with patients of diverse backgrounds; good phone and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized, able to multitask and handle both clinical and administrative tasks efficiently.
- Ability to follow all protocols, safety standards, and maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA compliance) at all times.
Work Environment & Schedule:
- Clinic setting
- Tuesday thru Friday: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM (40 hrs. week)
- No weekends required
- Combination of standing, walking, and desk/computer work
- Fast-paced, patient-focused environment
- Requires professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
