About the Position
Tutor Zone/Horizon Academy is seeking a passionate, experienced Teacher/Tutor to join our growing homeschool education program. This is an in-person teaching position at our learning center, where students are registered as homeschool students and receive structured, small-group instruction in a supportive classroom environment.
This is not a traditional public or private school setting. Our program emphasizes individualized learning, hands-on instruction, academic growth, and meaningful relationships with students and families.
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, engaging, creative, and committed to helping students develop confidence while mastering foundational academic skills. We are looking for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset who enjoys being part of a collaborative, growing educational environment.
Position Responsibilities
- Teach small-group in English Language Arts and Mathematics etc.
- Provide individualized tutoring and academic support based on each student's learning needs.
- Create engaging, hands-on lessons that foster curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning.
- Differentiate instruction to meet students at their individual academic levels.
- Promote reading fluency, comprehension, writing, vocabulary, and strong mathematical reasoning.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, educational technology, and curriculum resources.
- Develop organized, well-paced lesson plans aligned with state standards while supporting individualized homeschool learning plans.
- Maintain a structured, positive, and nurturing classroom environment.
- Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with families and administration.
- Participate in educational enrichment activities, projects, field trips, and special events.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to ensure consistency across the program.
- Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Florida Teaching Certificate preferred but not required.
- Strong background teaching elementary Reading, Writing, Language Arts, and Mathematics.
- Experience working with struggling learners and helping students improve reading fluency, comprehension, and foundational math skills.
- Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction and individualized learning.
- Experience with project-based learning and hands-on instruction is highly preferred.
- Ability to collaborate professionally with colleagues and families.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to accept feedback for continuous growth.
