Job Overview
The Catering Sous Chef oversees off-site catering operations, ensuring food preparation, delivery, and presentation meet the highest standards. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, this position emphasizes efficiency and quality.

Responsibilities:
- Assist the Executive Chef with catering tasks
- Oversee catering operations in accordance with organizational standards
- Lead events in the Executive Chef’s absence
- Maintain Nosh’s quality and creativity
- Foster a positive, inclusive workplace environment
- Review event BEOs for accuracy
- Manage catering staff schedules
- Train and supervise culinary staff
- Monitor the progress of new hires
- Enforce the recipe review program
- Implement the daily culinary checklist
- Track cooks’ hours and ensure proper compensation
- Ensure the quality and storage of fresh food
- Prepare weekly food and equipment requisitions
- Maintain consistent food taste and quality
- Organize photos and recipes
- Communicate daily to utilize perishables in a timely manner
- Check coolers and storage to prevent shortages
- Oversee food preparation at event locations
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Formal culinary training or extensive catering experience
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Expertise in food preparation (classical techniques preferred but required)
- Knowledge of food costing and catering regulations
- Understanding of kitchen equipment use, cleaning, and maintenance
- Level 2 health and safety certification
- Proficiency in technology for communication, ordering, and scheduling
- Flexible schedule
- Reliable transportation and a good driving record (must drive Nosh vehicles or rented commercial vehicles)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
