Position Description The Accounting Specialist assists with various accounting and deposit operations functions. These would include preparing general ledger account reconcilements, accounts payable processing, and preparing correspondent bank reconcilements. This position will also process non-post and exception items, Fed returns, reconcile ATM and teller cash
Position Summary The Accounting Specialist completes daily correspondent bank, ATM, and cash reconciliations with some assistance. This individual has experience with classifying invoices to the correct expense account, but may need some assistance. The Accounting Specialist has prior experience with performing accounts payable responsibilities.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Manages the accounts payable process including paying vendor invoices.
- Prepares daily correspondent bank account reconcilements, including computing the bank’s daily cash position.
- Processes Fed item returns and clears daily non-post items.
- Balance teller cash and ATM activity on a daily basis.
- Assist Controller with investor relations administration
- Completes item entry for daily online block transactions.
- Responsible for the recordkeeping of investment securities,
- Maintains records of relationship with the Federal Home Loan Bank, including advance reconcilements and accruals, submitting pledged asset reports and investment safekeeping receipts.
- Prepares reconcilements of general ledger balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
- Assists with various accounting related projects and tasks including data gathering for annual audits and exams.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Follows all 1st State Bank policies, procedures, compliance, and security practices.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Proficiency with pc and other system applications, with particular emphasis on Microsoft Office Suite products
- Proven strong organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail
- The ability to investigate and research problem situations
- Effective communication skills with a service, team-oriented approach
- Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and deadlines simultaneously
Qualifications
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (preferred)
- 3-5 years prior related professional work experience, preferably in a financial institution environment, would be considered if degree not completed.
- High School or GED (required)
Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
