Overview
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Barista to join our vibrant café team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for coffee, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. This role offers an opportunity to develop expertise in food and beverage preparation while providing a welcoming experience for our customers. Prior experience with POS systems is preferred. Availability to open the coffee shop at 7:30 Saturday and Sunday is required.
Duties
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, teas, and other drinks according to established recipes and customer preferences.
- Operate POS systems for order processing, cash handling, and sales transactions.
- Ensure food safety standards are maintained by following proper food handling, preparation, and sanitation procedures.
- Assist customers with menu selections, answer questions about products, and provide exceptional customer service.
- Maintain cleanliness of the café area, including cleaning equipment, counters, and seating areas.
- Restock supplies as needed and manage inventory levels efficiently.
- Handle cash register operations accurately, including cash handling and basic math calculations for transactions.
- Support food preparation tasks such as assembling food items or snacks when required.
- Uphold food safety regulations and ensure all health standards are met consistently.
Experience
- Previous barista experience is highly preferred, especially familiarity with coffee preparation techniques.
- Strong customer service background in food industry or retail settings.
- Knowledge of café operations, serving procedures, and food safety standards.
- Basic math skills including retail math and cash handling accuracy.
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently during busy periods.
