First Class Helpers is seeking compassionate and dependable Pediatric Support Specialists to provide in-home care services for children and young adults with autism and other special needs (ages 2–22). The Pediatric Support Specialist plays a vital role in supporting children’s daily living skills, personal growth, and overall well-being, while also providing respite and relief for families.
This position is hands-on and requires a caring professional who is patient, reliable, and passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct in-home support to children and young adults with autism, developmental disabilities, or special needs.
- Assist with daily living skills such as dressing, grooming, hygiene, meal preparation, and organization.
- Support children in building independence through skill-building activities (communication, problem-solving, safety awareness, etc.).
- Implement and reinforce behavioral strategies and care plans as outlined by therapists, parents, and the care team.
- Provide respite care for families, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
- Assist with transportation to community activities, appointments, or school, when needed.
- Document daily activities, progress, and any incidents in accordance with agency policy.
- Collaborate with families, therapists, and other team members to ensure high-quality, consistent care.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in child development, social work, special education, or health care preferred.
- Previous experience working with children with autism, developmental disabilities, or special needs strongly preferred.
- Must be patient, compassionate, and adaptable to the needs of each child and family.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently in a home environment.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance (if providing transport).
- Ability to pass a background check and meet state requirements for in-home caregivers.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $19.00 per hour
