- Radius rule: Traveler s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
Unit Information:
- Beds: 10 MedSurg and 10 Progressive
Minimum Years of Experience required: 18 months PCU experience (Resource Team requirement)
- Will you accept a first-time traveler: Not preferred but will consider
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
- Heart Failure, Chest Pain, r/o Stroke, General Medical – Sepsis, Renal Failure, Respiratory Failure, DKA, interventional patients with titratable drips
Patient Ratios:
- RN: MedSurg 1:5-6; PCU: 1:3-4
- CNA: ratio varies
Required Licensure & Certifications:
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (Resource Team requirement)
Skills required:
- General PCU skillset: Stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, etc), PCA pumps
- Medication gtt management to include: Cardiac drips, Heparin, Insulin, blood products, IVF
Support within the Department:
- CNA
- Receptionist/HUC
- Charge nurse – may or may not have patients
- Phlebotomy – peripheral blood draws
- IV/VAT Team: 11a-7p, 11p-7a
- Resource Nurse – as staffing allows
- RT, 24/7
- Hospitalist, 24/7
- Intensivist - ICU provider in house until 11p M-F, till 7p Sat/Sun, VCC coverage and on call Intensivist
- Telemetry monitoring/tech? no
Technology/Equipment:
- EMR: Epic
- IV Pump: Alaris
- Med dispensing: Omnicell
- Monitors: Phillips
Floating: If yes, where?
- All units within scope and below
- Within region and scope of practice
Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main Mercy LCH (peds only) - - could float to any of the facilities within region if the need arises
- If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
Orientation (facility and unit):
Scheduling:
- Weekend rotation: every other
- No call
- Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
- RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
- Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
