Duties
- Assist pharmacists with medication preparation, including counting, labeling, and packaging prescriptions accurately.
- Manage medication inventory, including stock replenishment and proper storage according to safety standards.
- Support patient intake processes by verifying prescriptions and clarifying medication instructions with patients or healthcare providers.
- Administer medications via IV infusion under supervision, following strict aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions about medications, usage instructions, and potential side effects.
- Maintain meticulous records of medication dispensing, patient interactions, and inventory logs in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure adherence to hospital protocols for critical care and acute care settings, including proper handling of high-risk medications and sterile compounding procedures.
Skills
- Proven experience as a pharmacy technician with a strong understanding of medical terminology and pharmacy operations.
- Experience working in LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacies or hospital environments is highly desirable.
- Critical care experience that demonstrates ability to handle complex medication regimens in high-pressure situations.
- Knowledge of aseptic technique for sterile compounding and IV infusion procedures.
- Excellent patient service skills with a focus on compassionate care and clear communication.
- Familiarity with medication administration processes within acute care settings.
