Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Cook to join our team at Village Green, a dedicated memory care home. This role is responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals for our residents while ensuring a safe and clean kitchen environment. In addition to culinary duties, all staff members, including the cook, are expected to assist with resident care during meal times, including helping residents who require assistance with eating.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve meals according to dietary needs, preferences, and health guidelines.
- Follow established menus while accommodating special dietary requirements (e.g., pureed diets, modified textures).
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, following food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Assist with meal service, ensuring a positive and enjoyable dining experience for residents.
- Support residents during mealtimes, including assisting those who need help eating.
- Monitor food inventory and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
- Collaborate with caregivers and nursing staff to ensure residents' nutritional needs are met.
- Follow all state and local health department regulations and facility policies.
- Engage with residents in a friendly, patient, and respectful manner to promote a homelike environment.
Qualifications:
- Previous cooking experience in a healthcare, senior living, or similar environment preferred.
- Knowledge of dietary restrictions and safe food handling procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Compassionate attitude and willingness to assist with resident care.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods.
