Maintenance Technician – Construction & RenovationOverview
The Hampton Inn & Suites Orlando–Apopka is seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician with experience in construction, renovations, and general building maintenance. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship and has hands-on experience with drywall, painting, flooring, wallpaper, carpentry, and basic electrical and plumbing repairs.
The ideal candidate will help maintain and improve the appearance and functionality of our hotel by completing guest room renovations, preventative maintenance, and repair projects while ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for our guests.
Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and finish drywall, including patching, mudding, sanding, and texture matching.
- Prepare, paint, and finish interior and exterior surfaces to professional standards.
- Install, repair, and replace wallpaper and wall coverings.
- Install and repair Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT), ceramic tile, baseboards, transitions, and other flooring materials.
- Perform basic carpentry work, including framing, trim installation, doors, cabinetry, and hardware repairs.
- Complete minor plumbing repairs, including replacing faucets, toilets, sinks, valves, and repairing leaks.
- Perform basic electrical work such as replacing outlets, switches, light fixtures, ballasts, breakers, and troubleshooting minor electrical issues.
- Assist with remodeling and renovation projects throughout the hotel.
- Repair ceilings, walls, flooring, and other building finishes.
- Install shelving, televisions, mirrors, artwork, grab bars, and other fixtures.
- Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests while providing excellent customer service.
- Complete preventative maintenance throughout guest rooms and public areas.
- Safely operate power tools, hand tools, ladders, and construction equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Work independently or as part of a team to complete projects on schedule.
- Follow OSHA safety standards and hotel safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction, remodeling, hotel maintenance, or residential/commercial maintenance.
- Strong experience with drywall installation and finishing.
- Experience with painting and surface preparation.
- Knowledge of wallpaper installation and repair.
- Experience installing LVT flooring, ceramic tile, and finish flooring.
- Basic knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems.
- Carpentry experience, including trim work and general repairs.
- Ability to read measuring tapes, blueprints, or project drawings is preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve maintenance issues efficiently.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and work from ladders.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license preferred.
Preferred Skills
- Hotel renovation or hospitality maintenance experience.
- Flooring installation (LVT, tile, carpet tile).
- Drywall finishing and texture matching.
- Cabinet and millwork installation.
- Door and hardware installation.
- Experience with painting sprayers and finishing equipment.
- Basic HVAC troubleshooting.
- Experience operating lifts or scaffolding.
Pay: $20.00 per hour
