Duties
- Assist the physician with patient care, including collecting vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature.
- Prepare examination rooms with necessary supplies and ensure cleanliness and readiness for patient visits.
- Perform clinical tasks such as phlebotomy (blood draws), medication administration, and office based testing including EKGs and spirometry.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring accurate documentation of patient encounters, medical records, and medical documentation.
- Support patient service activities by answering questions, providing education on treatments or medications, and coordinating follow-up appointments.
- Handle administrative responsibilities including appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and maintaining medical records in compliance with privacy regulations.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of outpatient primary care practices.
- Proficiency in medical administrative support functions such as appointment scheduling and managing electronic health records (EMR/EHR).
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse patient populations including geriatric and medically complex patients.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, physiology principles, and pharmacology basics.
- Experience with phlebotomy techniques, medication administration and office based procedures
