PARK AND RECREATION SPECIALIST (PERMANENT-INTERMITTENT) / MONTEREY DISTRICT / POINT LOBOS STATE NATURAL RESERVE / CARMEL, CA
The Park and Recreation Specialist (PI) plays an important role in the Monterey sector Visitor Service Program and works under the close supervision and general direction of the Monterey Sector Area Manager/Senior Park and Recreation Specialist.
The reporting location for this position is the Point Lobos State Natural Reserve office located at 62 CA-1, Carmel, CA. The position requires working outdoors as well indoors in an office setting. Typical working hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, but may be required to work weekends as required.
This is an opportunity to oversee and assist with special programming in Monterey Sector including the Point Lobos Dive Program, Junior Guards, and Summer Adventures. Duties include, but are not limited to, coordination of essential visitor services, park entrance reservations, local partnerships and community engagement, visitor trend research, data collection and analysis, and collaborating on program development.
Training and development assignments may be considered. This position is designated as telework eligible, office centered.
This position may work up to 1500 hours in any calendar year.

This position works in the office, outdoors, and frequently in group settings. Responsibilities will involve working under various environmental conditions (heat, cold, wind, dust, rain) as well on uneven and steep-sloped terrain. May be exposed to poison oak, ticks, and other natural hazards. Position also includes work in an office setting, with prolonged computer use and sitting. Position may work overtime, weekends and holidays, irregular shifts based on program or project needs.
