Under the general direction of an assigned supervisor, this position entails monitoring and coordinating the daily transportation needs of the school system as it relates to routing and scheduling. In addition, driving specific routes will be an integral part of the job. The ability to work in a highly demanding and ever-changing environment is paramount.
Develops, controls, and maintains all bus routes within the assigned area.
Coordinates with the Transportation Supervisor and principals in the assigned area to ensure necessary support.
Maintains necessary records, charts, maps, correspondence, etc. for efficient performance of job duties.
Ability to effectively utilize technological devices and software to enhance productivity.
Provides accurate documentation to the Supervisor for the preparation of the State Foundation Report.
Coordinates special programs in accordance with transportation needs.
Initiates operational and scheduling adjustments as needed.
Coordinates with appropriate local law enforcement agencies.
Surveys and monitors all bus routes and traffic conditions in the assigned area.
Continuously monitors and analyzes arrival, layover, and departure times of buses, student loads, and various other data to ensure the most efficient routing. Makes needed corrections as required.
Conducts orientation for drivers in assigned areas and assists with professional development/training of drivers as needed.
Conducts driver and bus aide evaluations.
Responds in a reasonable, timely manner to questions, complaints, and requests to meet the needs of students, families, and sites.
Assists in the development of transportation policies and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
Develops and monitors special programs with outside agencies.
Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.
Attends all required training meetings and professional development sessions.
Reports potential problems, unusual events, or workplace irregularities to appropriate administrative or supervisory personnel.
Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state and federal regulations.
Works well with all supervisors and team members.
Performs other duties assigned by supervisor or administrator.
