CDL Delivery Driver
Job Overview:
The CDL Delivery Driver is responsible for safely transporting, delivering, and picking up golf cars using company trucks and trailers. This position is responsible for following assigned delivery routes, properly loading and securing golf cars, completing required DOT inspections and documentation, and providing professional service to customers.
The CDL Delivery Driver is expected to operate company vehicles safely and responsibly while maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and company regulations.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Operate company delivery trucks and trailers requiring a CDL Class A license, including vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) over 26,000 lbs.
- Safely load, transport, deliver, and pick up golf cars from golf courses, dealerships, businesses, residential locations, and other customer locations.
- Follow assigned delivery routes and schedules and communicate with management regarding delays, route changes, or delivery issues.
- Perform required daily DOT pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete all required inspection and driver documentation.
- Maintain accurate DOT logs and other required transportation records.
- Comply with all applicable DOT, FMCSA, state, and local regulations.
- Obey all traffic laws and operate the vehicle in a safe manner appropriate for road, traffic, and weather conditions.
- Properly position, strap, and secure all golf cars and equipment before transporting them.
- Inspect the truck, trailer, straps, ramps, and other loading equipment before use and report any unsafe or damaged equipment immediately.
- Ensure the truck and trailer are properly maintained, serviced, inspected, and kept in compliance with DOT requirements.
- Notify management immediately of any major mechanical, safety, customer, or delivery issues.
- Obtain customer signatures or other required confirmation to document completed deliveries and pickups.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional-looking truck and trailer.
- Represent New England Golf Cars professionally when interacting with customers, vendors, golf courses, and the general public.
- Assist with loading and unloading golf cars and other equipment as required.
- Maintain possession of and comply with all requirements associated with a valid CDL Class A license.
- Immediately report any changes to CDL status, driving privileges, medical certification, or other qualifications that may affect the ability to legally operate a commercial motor vehicle.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and rules.
- Complete delivery paperwork and other documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- During periods of downtime, assist with other dealership, service, rental, parts, or operational duties as directed by management.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A license with a clean and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to legally operate the company's assigned commercial vehicles.
- Current DOT medical certification, as required.
- Previous CDL driving, delivery, trucking, or equipment transportation experience preferred.
- Ability to safely load, unload, strap, and secure golf cars and other equipment.
- Strong attention to safety and detail.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Professional communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage assigned routes and deliveries.
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position, including loading and unloading equipment and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
