We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Child Care Director to lead and oversee the daily operations of our early childhood education and childcare programs. Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of age-appropriate curriculum focused on childhood development, social-emotional skills, and early learning standards.
- Supervise and support teaching staff by providing mentorship, conducting classroom observations, and facilitating ongoing professional development in areas such as child development instruction, classroom management, behavior management, and special education strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all Tennessee Department of Human Services (DHS) licensing requirements, mandated reporting laws, health and safety regulations, including pediatric first aid and CPR certifications, while maintaining a Christ-centered environment that nurtures children spiritually, academically, socially and emotionally.
- Oversee daily child supervision to ensure safety protocols are followed at all times across classrooms including infant care, toddler care, preschool activities, and special needs accommodations.
- Model Christian Values in daily interactions with children, families and staff
- Integrate prayer, scripture, and faith-based principles into the center's culture.
- Manage parent communication by providing regular updates on children’s progress, addressing concerns promptly, and fostering positive relationships with families.
- Coordinate staff schedules, recruitment efforts to include classroom waitlists and qualified staff, training sessions in early childhood education topics such as childhood development and classroom experience best practices.
- Maintain accurate records related to attendance, incident reports, health logs, financial reports and DHS licensing documentation to ensure operational excellence.
- Ensure proper maintenance of building, playground, and equipment.
- Build strong relationships with families through daily communication, conferences, and ministry support.
- Maintain confidentiality for students, parents and staff.
- Represent the center within the church and community.
- Address parent and staff concerns with professionalism and Christian compassion.
Qualifications
- Strong Christian faith and commitment to ministry and excellence
- Proven experience working with children across various age groups including infants, toddlers, preschoolers, or children with disabilities.
- Must meet Tennessee DHS Director qualification standards that include education and experience.
- Strong background in early childhood education with knowledge of child development instruction and classroom management techniques.
- Certification in first aid and CPR; pediatric first aid certification is required.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience supervising childcare staff or teaching teams.
- Familiarity with mandated reporting laws and health & safety standards relevant to daycare centers or early childhood programs.
- Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with parents, staff, and community partners.
- 10+ years of experience working within licensed daycare centers or similar childcare environments; daycare center experience is required.
- Ability to foster a positive learning environment through behavior management strategies and nurturing guidance.
