General Laborer II
Position Summary
Blue Sage Services is seeking experienced field professionals to serve as General Laborer II. This position builds upon foundational labor skills by introducing equipment operation, increased project responsibilities, and mentorship opportunities. Laborer II employees are expected to work independently with minimal supervision while supporting efficient project execution and maintaining Blue Sage Services' standards for safety and quality. This role serves as the primary development stage toward Equipment Operator.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform all Laborer I responsibilities
- Safely operate approved light equipment including skid steers, mini excavators,
compactors, and similar equipment
- Assist with layout, grading, and utility installation activities
- Read and understand basic project plans and daily work assignments
- Perform trench preparation, pipe installation support, backfill, and compaction
- Assist operators in maintaining production goals
- Inspect and maintain assigned equipment
- Mentor and assist newer Laborer I employees
- Identify potential safety hazards and communicate concerns
- Demonstrate initiative while working with minimal supervision
- Continue developing skills required for Operator advancement
Qualifications & Requirements
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Previous construction experience required
- Demonstrated proficiency as a Laborer I or equivalent experience
- Ability to safely operate skid steer, mini excavator, and similar equipment
- Strong understanding of Blue Sage Services safety expectations
- Ability to work independently while supporting the crew
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
Work Environment & Schedule
- Field-based position with travel required depending on project location
- Typical schedule: Monday–Friday with overtime as needed
- Work hours may vary based on project demands and timelines
