In collaboration with Trauma Program Leadership, the Trauma Registrar 2 ensures the Trauma Registry has accurate, detailed, reliable, and accessible information. This supports the operations, quality initiatives, and research of the trauma center.

Oversees registry database by performing edit checks, mapping, and software upgrades

Oversees data validation and chart auditing process to ensure accuracy of registry data for benchmarking and process improvement.

Assists the Trauma Program Manager/Director with orienting and supporting Trauma Registry staff. This includes training, delegation, and reviewing individual and team productivity.

Provides feedback to Trauma Registrars regarding data entry reports.

Develops, manages, and maintains registry data collection, validation, and reporting in conjunction with Trauma Program leadership.

Creates reports and provides data for various stakeholders, including Trauma Program leadership, Trauma Medical Director, and Trauma PI Coordinator. Also, creates reports supporting internal and external hospital-wide research projects and initiatives as requested by Trauma Program Leadership.

Examines data to support Trauma performance improvement and research. Identifies variations in patient care delivery. Measures clinical outcomes like response times, timeliness of care, length of stay, complications, and cost for the BSWH Trauma Center.

Ensures compliance with local, state, and national agencies that regulate trauma care.

Ensures continuous development to comply with the laws and regulations for trauma data collection reporting as well as any updates.

Ensures compliance with data quality plan.

Knowledge of and ability to use computers, including word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, electronic communication, database management, and report writers.

Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.

Extensive knowledge of Registry maintenance and related regulations.

Exceptional organizational skills, the ability to prioritize workload, follow schedules, and meet deadlines.

Ability to work autonomously on assigned projects and to recommend improvement to the process of collecting, maintaining, and reporting information.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to establish productive relationships with a wide variety of health care professionals.

3 years of direct Trauma Registry abstraction experience preferred.

Completion of American Trauma Society’s Trauma Registry Course or equivalent state approved data management course.

ICD - 10 refresher course required within the last 5 years.
