Position Summary
The Project/Assistant Manager & Quality Control plays a vital role in planning, coordinating, and monitoring construction projects from inception through completion. This individual ensures projects meet budget, schedule, and quality standards while supporting senior project management in day-to-day operations.
The role requires regular travel to construction sites across Texas as a daily routine.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Field Management:
- Assist Project Managers in scheduling, budgeting, QA/QC and resource planning for projects ranging from $1M–$5M+
- Track progress using project management software, generating regular cost and schedule reports
- Manage and maintain the QC/QA program at the site.
Quality Control:
- Enforce company and client quality standards, building codes, and specifications
- Conduct on-site inspections to verify workmanship, materials, and adherence to safety and environmental standards
- Document deficiencies, issue corrective actions, and follow through to resolution
Communication & Coordination:
- Serve as a liaison between office, field crews, vendors, and clients
- Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers to maintain efficient workflow
- Prepare and present progress updates to management and clients
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, local, and state regulations
- Support safety audits and promote a strong safety culture on all project sites
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management (required)
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in construction project management, industrial, or mechanical construction (required)
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in project management and scheduling tools (Procore, MS Project, Primavera P6, or similar)
- Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Other Requirements:
- Ability to travel to job sites within a 2-hour drive of Houston (multiple locations)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Attributes
- Knowledge of HVAC/mechanical or heavy industrial construction
- Familiarity with TDCJ or higher-education projects
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
