Computer/LAN Technician
Experience preferred; under the general supervision of the Information Technology Director, Network Administrator, or Systems Administrator possesses the required skills and knowledge to install, troubleshoot, and repair computer workstations and peripherals; including hardware, software, and network cabling in accordance with standard IT practices and techniques
GENERAL DUTIES: Experience Preferred
- Configuring, installing, and repairing computer hardware and associated peripherals
- Provide technical support to the agency employees and customers
- Attentively listening to the description of a problem, identifying and determining solution(s)
- Training users on the use of hardware or software
- Testing and evaluating the agency's computer network
- Troubleshooting computer, network, hardware, or software problems
- Assist users and determine technology needs
- Identify areas needing technology upgrades
- Provide onsite, remote, and on-call support as needed
- Abide by the "Law Enforcement Code of Ethics"
- Perform any additional duties that may be required by the Sheriff or necessity of situations
JOB PREREQUISITES: Additional related certifications desirable, but not required.
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Florida Driver's License
- Ability to follow instructions and organize own work
- Ability to understand and follow English language instructions, both verbal and written
- Ability to use general office machines such as copy machines and computers
- Ability to work harmoniously with the public and agency personnel
- Possess normal sight and hearing, and physical agility required for standing, walking, and climbing stairs
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend/on-call work. Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
