About the Role
We're seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to champion the electrical and PLC controls for our automated systems across various production areas. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in PLC programming and industrial networking to optimize equipment performance and ensure seamless integration with our manufacturing execution system.
Responsibilities
- Refine automated equipment programming to enhance safety protocols, minimize downtime, improve product quality, and boost production throughput.
- Collaborate with production supervisors, engineers, maintenance teams, and process technicians to achieve plant-wide objectives related to automated equipment.
- Diagnose and guide maintenance/engineering teams in resolving issues with electrical/electronic components, including sensors, variable frequency drives, PLCs, motors, servo motion controllers, vision systems, robots, and CNC machines.
- Interpret and utilize electrical schematics for troubleshooting and system improvements.
- Collaborate with the IT department to ensure seamless machine networking and data communication.
- Engage with equipment and parts vendors to secure support for troubleshooting and optimizing equipment performance.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, coupled with 5+ years of experience in a highly automated manufacturing setting.
- Demonstrated experience as a Controls Engineer within a highly automated manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in PLC programming, industrial networking, and data collection methodologies.
- Experience with industrial robotics and vision systems.
- Familiarity with MES (Manufacturing Execution System) interfaces with automation equipment.
- Strong computer skills, including database organization and data structure creation.
- In-depth knowledge of industrial networking and communication protocols.
