Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable with account Collections and Authorization of procedures to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that patients receive the necessary authorizations for medical services and procedures. Regular follow up to open account receivable balances. This position requires a strong understanding of managed care, medical terminology, and coding practices, as well as the ability to navigate complex insurance verification processes.
Duties
- Review and process authorization requests for medical services in accordance with established guidelines.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility for services using various systems.
- Regular follow up to open Accounts Receivable balances.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to gather necessary information for authorization.
- Maintain accurate records of all authorization requests and approvals in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Understand and utilize correct CPT coding and ICD-10 coding systems to ensure accurate documentation of diagnoses and procedures.
- Collaborate with medical office staff to resolve any discrepancies or issues related to authorizations or insurance claims.
- Stay updated on changes in managed care policies, coding standards, and insurance requirements to ensure compliance.
- Assist in the training of new staff on authorization processes and procedures as needed.
- Knowledge of how to accurately work with various verification portals.
Experience
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently are critical for success in this role.
- Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
- Experience in account collections and understanding EOBs.
- Familiarity with managed care systems and processes is essential.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and standards is required.
- Proficiency in medical terminology, medical records management, and medical coding practices is necessary.
- Experience with insurance verification processes is highly desirable.
