This role is aimed at an experienced PM who can independently run projects and also help expand the company’s presence in the Kalamazoo / Southwest Michigan market. Industrial and manufacturing work is the core focus, but the team is open to someone who can also flex into commercial or retail-type work as needed. This person should be comfortable managing projects from preconstruction through closeout, guiding client relationships, coordinating with architects, engineers, and trade partners, and proactively driving next steps. Projects are typically in the $2M–$16M range.
The market-expansion piece makes local relationships, community familiarity, and economic development engagement especially valuable, and the hiring team strongly prefers candidates with existing Kalamazoo-area ties. The right person will likely have 5+ years in construction, General Contractor exposure, the ability to run projects independently, and ideally a background in industrial/manufacturing environments. Design-build experience, architecture/engineering background, knowledge of structural/mechanical/civil systems, and strong MS Project / Excel skills are all nice pluses. Longer term, this seat is viewed as a potential future Senior PM track if the local market expansion goes well.
A bit about us:
-
We’re working with a well-established Michigan-based builder that has earned a strong reputation across industrial, healthcare, office, retail, community, and design-build construction. The company is known for pairing operational strength with long-term relationship building and for investing in meaningful impact both on the jobsite and in the communities where it works.
Why join us?

This role has a different feel than a typical PM seat because it blends project execution with market growth. The company already does work in the region, but they’re looking to deepen their presence — which creates an opportunity for the right person to help shape how that office evolves.
You’ll still be running industrial and manufacturing projects, but there’s an added layer of visibility with local relationships, economic development groups, and repeat clients. If you’re someone who likes being plugged into the local market and building something longer-term, this is where that matters.
The role also carries more runway than a standard PM position. Leadership already views this seat as a potential future Senior PM track if the market expansion gains traction, which makes it one of the higher upside roles within the group.
It’s best suited for someone who is independent, proactive, and comfortable being a visible presence locally — not just running jobs, but helping establish the company as a go-to builder in the area.
