Summary:
As an Animal Caregiver at Milo Sanctuary, you will play a crucial role in the daily care of our dogs, cats, and some farm animals. You will work closely with our leadership team to monitor the health and behavior of the animals, ensuring they receive the highest standard of care. Your dedication and urgency will directly support the Milo Foundation’s mission to rescue and provide safe havens for animals in need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborative Care: Work positively with the Milo Sanctuary team to ensure the well-being and enrichment of the animals in our care.
- Daily Care: Provide consistent feeding, watering, medication, and companionship to animals, following established schedules and individual needs.
- Health Monitoring: Observe and report any changes in animal behavior or health to management promptly and accurately.
- Environment Maintenance: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment for all animals, including cleaning living spaces and litter boxes.
- Record Keeping: Document animal health observations and ensure timely communication of any concerns to supervisors.
- Compliance and Communication: Adhere to Milo Foundation policies and procedures, and maintain clear communication with coworkers and supervisors about scheduling and other work-related matters.
- Additional Duties: Be flexible and willing to assist with various tasks as assigned to support the sanctuary’s operations.
Skills & Experience:
- Animal Behavior Knowledge: Familiarity with dog and cat behavior, including handling techniques that ensure safety and comfort.
- Positive Reinforcement Training: Experience with animal training using positive reinforcement methods is a plus.
- Medication Administration: Ability to administer medications and maintain accurate medical records is preferred.
- Problem-Solving Attitude: Resourceful, proactive, and enthusiastic about assisting in all aspects of animal care.
- Effective Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and keep supervisors informed of activities.
- Self-Motivated: Ability to work independently while completing tasks thoroughly and efficiently.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding activities, such as walking strong dogs on leashes, lifting, carrying, and cleaning.
- Willingness to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, rain, and cold.
- Daily interaction with animals of all sizes, temperaments, and health statuses.
Schedule:
This position typically requires 3 - 5days of work per week, for 8 hours each day. Morning shifts are available. Weekend and holiday availability is required.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
