About Mathematics
The Mathematics department at Drexel University is a close-knit, energetic and diverse group. The Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics provide a healthy foundation of abstract reasoning, applications and computing. With the Doctorate and Master of Science in Mathematics, the department is focused on developing the next generation of mathematicians. Comprised of internationally recognized researchers, the Department of Mathematics faculty specializes in several areas of mathematics, including mathematical biology, combinatorics, matrix and operator theory, geometry, optics, probability, numerical analysis and partial differential equations.
Job Summary
The Adjunct Professor’s responsibilities include reviewing and improving syllabi, understanding students’ needs, developing engaging lesson plans, and ensuring the relevant learning resources are available. Adjuncts should also be able to evaluate student performance and address any issues promptly.
Essential Functions
Teach required number of credit hours per 10-week quarter.
Hold regularly scheduled office hours in the Math Tutoring Center and meet with students outside of class, as needed.
Give prompt, regular feedback to students about their academic performance.
Maintain communication with the department head or course coordinator regarding any course or student issues.
Report mid-term and final exam grades.
Perform other similar duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
MS or PhD in a Mathematical Science or related field
Ability to demonstrate excellence in teaching mathematics.
