Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician
Job Location: Santa Ana, CA 92703
Job Duties:
- Operates and monitors sterilization equipment.
- Prioritizes daily tasks based on interpretation of surgical schedule, determining the requirement for instruments for each surgical case.
- Disassembles carts and follows Universal Precautions for decontamination.
- Sterilizes, disinfects durable medical equipment and instruments, packages clean supplies and instruments, maintains records for all instruments and transports sterilized items to the floor.
- Assembles sterilized instruments and rechecks all instruments for cleanliness and/or impairment. Properly checks power equipment.
- Takes measures to allow for easy instrument tracking including following labeling processes, use of engraver, reporting and documenting all missing instruments and implants replaced in trays.
- Communicates the equipment and instrument inventory status with the Central Processing staff and Surgery Charge Nurse including order status, back orders and/or changes.
- Responds to emergency situations by ensuring all emergency, trauma, and add-on cases are supplied properly and delivered to the Operating Room in a timely manner.
- Utilizes applications and technology to accurately facilitate record keeping in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
- Provides job training on job training (OJT) to newly hired associates in the department.
- Promotes mission, vision, and values, and abides by service behavior standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT or CRCST)
- Minimum 2 years of Sterile Processing experience in an acute care hospital or surgical setting.
- Experience assembling complex instrument trays, including spine, open heart, and robotic instrumentation.
