Role Overview
As part of our sales team, you’ll build relationships with contractors and hobbyists, provide trusted guidance, and help deliver an outstanding experience every day. This person is the first point of contact for customers and plays a key role in delivering a helpful, knowledgeable, and efficient in-store experience. This position supports day-to-day retail operations, including inside sales, customer service, order processing, and maintaining a clean and organized showroom.
This position is an hourly rate with a team-structured commission potential.
Key Responsibilities: Customer Service & Pro Desk Sales
- Greet and assist customers in-store with purchases, product selection, and project guidance
- Assist in choosing materials for project, measuring, and pricing material selections based on their project needs
- Provide general advice on materials and applications (lumber, moulding, plywood, etc.)
- Accurately ring up transactions using the POS system
- Answer phone calls and assist customers with questions, orders, and availability
- Notify customers when orders are ready for pickup
- Assist customers with loading materials into vehicles as needed
Order Management & Processing
- Create quote sheets and sales orders for custom materials
- Check in incoming inventory and stock showroom shelves accordingly
- Maintain awareness of current inventory levels and product availability
- Coordinate with purchasing and operations teams as needed
Pricing & Product Knowledge
- Maintain a strong understanding of product pricing and categories
- Reference and apply correct pricing for all transactions and quotes
- Use POS and inventory systems to check stock levels and availability
- Stay informed on new products and updates to inventory
Store Maintenance & Organization
- Keep showroom shelves stocked, organized, and visually clean
- Maintain cleanliness of floors, showroom areas, bathrooms, and break room
- Support overall presentation of the store to ensure a positive customer experience
Cash Handling & Daily Close
- Maintain accuracy of the cash drawer throughout the day
- Complete end-of-day cash reconciliation and reporting
- Prepare and submit daily deposit and report to management (Laura)
Skills & Qualifications
- Some background and/or interest in woodworking, home improvement, DIY
- Basic wood knowledge is preferred
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented retail environment
- Ability to learn product knowledge and provide basic project guidance
- Basic math and cash handling accuracy
- Comfortable using POS systems and inventory tools
- Willingness to assist with physical tasks (lifting, loading materials, stocking shelves) and ability to lift 25lbs
- High attention to detail and organization

Job Details
- $22-$24 / hour based on experience
- Team-based monthly OR quarterly bonus structure
- Store hours M-F 8-4:30 & Sat 10-2; must be available every other Saturday
