Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques and patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor patients’ health by taking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately to nursing staff or supervisors.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption to promote proper nutrition.
- Support residents with medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans established by healthcare professionals.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties, laundry, and ensuring infection control protocols are followed diligently.
- Provide compassionate companionship and engage residents in social activities to enhance their mental well-being, especially those with dementia or neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Assist with transportation needs for appointments or outings, ensuring safe patient transfers using appropriate techniques and equipment.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to observe patients closely, monitor vital signs, and recognize signs of distress or changes in condition.
- Knowledge of patient care procedures including medication administration, first aid, CPR certification, and HIPAA compliance.
- Experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, or neurodevelopmental disorders is advantageous.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely while adhering to safety protocols such as the Hoyer lift use.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and collaboration with healthcare teams.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.
