Duties and Responsibilities: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Transports hazardous materials.
- Possible occasional stop-offs during the return trip home.
- Operate a forklift or pallet jack to efficiently transport material and load/unload product from trucks.
- Perform the daily safety checks of equipment
- Properly secure loads for safe transport
- Ensure that all bills of lading are filled out completely for quantities and dated.
- Verifies that customer legibly signs and dates bills for all goods.
- Maintains driving and fuel purchase logs according to state and federal regulations.
- Maintains periodic telephone contact with dispatcher/supervisor.
- Inspects truck equipment for DOT compliance and ensures that repair notices are given to management.
- Adds fuel, oil, and water to the equipment as needed.
- Report to a dispatcher about any incidents encountered on the road.
- Monitors and stay alert to changing road conditions.
- Follow all applicable traffic laws.
- Follow accident procedures if an accident occurs.
- Positions load locks and/or straps around items to secure cargo during transit.
- Driver utilizes DOT compatibility chart to properly segregate non-compatible products and ensures that truck and trailer are properly placarded for hazards as noted on bill of lading.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday.
Local pickup and delivery
Marginal overnight
Home on the weekend
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Must have CDL Class A Endorsement, hazmat and tanker on driver's license

Must have two years’ experience transporting hazardous material with semi-trucks and trailers/tankers

Knowledge of DOT regulations

Ability to operate a forklift (prior certification required).

Must be able speak and understand English well.

Have good communication skills (written and oral).

Ability to read and identify sequences of numbers.

Have basic computer skills

Must be able to pass a background check

Must be able to pass a drug screen including marijuana
