Under the direction of Healthy Living leadership and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Tier 4 Yoga Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality, inclusive yoga classes and contributing to the strategic growth and excellence of the group fitness program. As a content expert, the Tier 4 Instructor mentors lower-tier instructors and participates in the YMCA continuing education platform.

Essential Functions
- Design and lead safe, effective, and inclusive yoga classes aligned with current exercise science and safety standards.
- Teach a minimum of 8 classes per month, including at least one sub class, starting and ending each session on time.
- Engage participants before and after class to build community, encourage retention, and support a welcoming environment.
- Maintain a minimum of 80% target attendance with a focus on continual growth and participant satisfaction.
- Provide instruction in at least two class formats, including one tailored to a specialty population.
- Serve as a mentor and subject matter expert, supporting the professional development of Tier 1–3 instructors.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized studio environment; ensure equipment is in proper working order.
- Accurately track class attendance and communicate relevant trends or concerns to leadership.
- Support YMCA outreach, fundraising, and community initiatives.
- Attend staff meetings and engage in continuing education aligned with personal and
organizational goals
Required Qualifications
- Completion of all mandatory YMCA of Greater Charlotte trainings within required deadlines.
- Minimum of 10 years (1,000+ hours) of yoga instruction experience.
- Current E-RYT certification (minimum 800-hour level).
- Proficient in teaching two or more formats, including one that serves a specialty population.
- Demonstrated experience as a mentor or educator within a continuing education platform.
- Passion for wellness and helping others achieve their fitness goals.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Professional, dependable, and self-motivated with a supportive and enthusiastic attitude.
- Flexible availability to meet program and member needs.
- Basic computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel).
All YMCA team members are expected to maintain a current and active status for all safety, risk, and programming certifications defined by the YMCA of Greater Charlotte.
Working Conditions
- Ability to teach at varied times, including evenings and weekends.
- Must be able to walk, stand, kneel, bend, and move freely while maintaining alertness.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds and spot participants as needed.
- Visual and auditory capacity to respond swiftly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods to track data and communication.
- Exposure to shared equipment and potential contact with bodily fluids.
