Reggio-Inspired Part-time/4 Day a Week Preschool Teacher for
Woodsong Preschool SE Portland
Available Position: Part Time Preschool Teacher $18-$22 per hour to start
depending on experience, and eligible for merit raises. Woodsong follows
the PPS school schedule, and offers 7 weeks of paid vacation during the
breaks.
We are a Reggio-Inspired in-home Preschool for children 2.5-5yrs, nestled in the
heart of South Tabor neighborhood.
We believe that children are natural scientists and learners, who can discover their
knowledge through play, questioning, creativity and authentic experience. We are
play-focused, project-based, child-led, and art-infused.The work we do is supported
by teachers, and most importantly, led and inspired by children as they interact with
the world and environment around them.
Hours and Days Needed: Mondays (8:30-4:30) Tuesdays (8:30-4:30) Wednesdays,
(8:30-4:30) and Thursdays (8:30-4:30) with picking up occasional Fridays. 32 hours a
week minimum.
Job Responsibilities:
-Develop positive relationships with children, parents, and co-teachers. -Work with
and alongside a co-teacher.
-Observe and document children daily.
-Attend staff trainings as dictated by calendar on some Fridays.
-Attend to 12 to 15 children a day with one other teacher.
-Work 4 days a week, sub when available.
Qualifications
-Experience in a Preschool, a Reggio-inspired program or similar creative setting.
-Currently enrolled in the Central Background Registry or are willing to do so asap
-Meet all licensure requirements within 30 days of hire (First Aid/CPR, and Food
Handlers Card, Recognize and Reporting Child Abuse Training, Sleep Training)
-Respond to children respectfully, and positively.
-Knowledge or background in fine arts is helpful.
-Willingness to make at least a one year commitment.
-Inspired and excited to work with young children, and nurture their natural
curiosity and growth.
-Able to work with the families of our students.
-Dependable, positive, creative, energetic, and patient with a strong work ethic and
flexibility.
-Have the ability to work collaboratively, and independently.
-Complete a minimum of 15 hrs of professional development per year.
