Part-Time | Weekday Evenings and/or Saturday Mornings | $20 to $25/hour | Des Plaines, IL
Our mission: Building Community through the Arts. Every student who walks through our doors matters.
As we enter our 22nd season, we're looking for an instructor who believes music is about more than learning notes. It's about helping children build confidence, curiosity, perseverance, and a lifelong love of making music.
The Seat You'd Own
You give kids their first real relationship with music: the moment a note clicks, a rhythm lands, a shy student plays their first song for a parent. Whether you're teaching private piano or leading a room of young musicians, you're the reason students discover that making music is something they can do and love.
Opportunities Available
- Private Piano Instructor: Teach beginning to intermediate students ages 6 to 15. Focus on reading music, rhythm, note values, ear training, sight-reading, and technique.
- Group Music Instructor: Teach ages 2 to 9 using the Music FunTime curriculum. Create an engaging, hands-on classroom experience. We provide comprehensive Music FunTime training, curriculum, and ongoing support.
What You'll Own (Outcomes)
- Student progress: Move students forward with clear, age-appropriate instruction they can feel proud of.
- Classroom experience: Create fun, organized lessons that students look forward to each week.
- Student growth: Build confidence, respect, and kindness alongside musical skill. Know their names.
- Team contribution: Show up prepared & on time, communicate clearly & professionally, accept feedback, and collaborate with the AMA team.
How Success Is Measured
- Student Retention: Students are excited to attend lessons consistently, continue progressing, and families remain enrolled season after season.
- Parent Experience: Parents trust you, feel informed, and recommend AMA to others.
- Student Growth: Students demonstrate measurable musical progress appropriate to their age and level.
- Lesson Excellence: Lessons are engaging, organized, and aligned with the AMA curriculum and teaching philosophy.
- Professionalism: You are dependable, punctual, communicative, and a positive contributor to the AMA team.
Why This Matters
Our families don't just enroll in music lessons. They're trusting us to help their children discover confidence, creativity, and the joy of making music. The right instructor helps students believe in themselves, celebrate their progress, and develop a lifelong love of music. As an AMA instructor, you help make that happen.
