Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activities Coordinator to energize and enrich the lives of residents in a senior living community. Duties
- Develop and implement diverse activity programs tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, and care needs, including memory care and dementia-specific activities.
- Coordinate resident events such as social gatherings, recreational outings, and therapeutic activities that encourage participation and foster community spirit.
- Collaborate with nursing staff, caregivers, and family members to ensure activities align with individual care plans and promote resident engagement.
- Assist residents with daily living activities (ADLs) when needed to support their participation in programs.
- Maintain detailed records of activities, resident participation, and feedback to continually improve program offerings.
- Build strong rapport with residents through personalized interaction, ensuring each individual feels comfortable and valued.
- Manage schedules efficiently to balance activity planning with other operational responsibilities within the facility.
Skills
- Proven experience in event planning, recreational therapy, or program development within assisted living or long-term care settings.
- Extensive knowledge of geriatrics, dementia care, Alzheimer’s disease, and memory care strategies.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, staff, and community partners.
- Demonstrated ability to lead team efforts in organizing resident events and fostering a lively community atmosphere.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for record-keeping, scheduling, and communication purposes.
- Experience working with seniors or individuals with disabilities in home or community care environments.
- Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple programs simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Compassionate approach to caregiving that emphasizes resident rapport building and aging issues counseling.
