Job Overview
Urban Herb is seeking an experienced Dispensary Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our licensed cannabis dispensary in Buffalo, NY.
We are looking for someone with previous cannabis dispensary experience who understands both the customer-facing and back-office sides of operating a successful dispensary. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can manage employees, maintain compliance, oversee daily operations, and help build a strong and accountable team.
This position will be responsible for staffing, hiring, scheduling, training, administrative duties, inventory oversight, compliance, customer experience, and overall store performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee daily dispensary operations
- Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and train employees
- Create and manage employee schedules based on business needs
- Coach employees and address performance or attendance issues
- Maintain a professional, positive, and accountable workplace
- Oversee opening and closing procedures
- Monitor daily sales and store performance
- Ensure accurate cash handling and register procedures
- Oversee inventory receiving, organization, counts, and discrepancies
- Maintain compliance with New York State cannabis regulations and company policies
- Perform back-office and administrative duties
- Maintain employee records and operational documentation
- Ensure products, menus, pricing, and promotions are accurate
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate product needs
- Handle customer concerns and resolve escalated issues professionally
- Ensure the dispensary remains clean, organized, secure, and properly staffed
- Work closely with ownership and other leadership on operational improvements
- Identify opportunities to improve sales, efficiency, customer experience, and employee performance
Requirements
- Previous experience working in a licensed cannabis dispensary is strongly preferred
- Previous retail management, assistant management, or dispensary leadership experience
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Strong understanding of cannabis products and the retail cannabis environment
- Experience hiring, training, scheduling, and managing employees
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Comfortable working with POS, inventory, and back-office systems
- Dutchie POS experience is a strong plus
- Knowledge of New York cannabis compliance requirements is a strong plus
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to handle employee and customer issues professionally
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment and manage multiple priorities
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of store operations
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
