Overview
We are seeking an experienced Emergency Vehicle Technician to join our team. This role is a supportive roll, installing and repairing emergency equipment in emergency response vehicles to ensure they operate safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate will possess mechanical knowledge, a basic understanding of 12v DC electrical systems, experience with vehicle maintenance, and proficiency with various tools and testing equipment. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment dedicated to public safety and emergency services.
Responsibilities
- Install of lights sirens and emergency equipment in emergency vehicles
- Assisting a primary tech in wiring in those systems
- Install of push bumper, Prisoner compartment, K9 compartments and other emergency vehicle equipment
- Diagnose electrical issues using diagnostic techniques and other testing equipment
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to disassemble, repair, and reassemble vehicle components, seats bumpers and other vehicle parts to enable the installation of emergency equipment
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot complex electrical problems and develop effective solutions
- Follow safety protocols and procedures during all repair activities to ensure a safe working environment
Experience
- some automotive experience is required
- basic 12V electrical knowledge
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic testing devices such as ohmmeters
- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and repair guides effectively
- Prior experience working on emergency response vehicles is a plus but not required; relevant training will be provided for qualified candidates
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail and safety standards
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
