Director of Generational Discipleship
Position Summary
The Director of Generational Discipleship provides vision, leadership, and coordination for the church’s ministries that support spiritual formation and discipleship across the lifespan. This position works collaboratively with ministry staff and volunteers to develop, align, and strengthen a comprehensive pathway of discipleship from birth through older adulthood.
Rather than directly managing all ministry programs, the Director of Generational Discipleship serves as a strategic leader who helps ensure that each ministry area contributes to the church’s mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Executive Director.
Areas of Responsibility
The Director of Generational Discipleship provides leadership and oversight for:
- Hospitality and Guest Engagement
- Nursery Ministries
- Children’s Ministries
- Youth Ministries
- Adult Discipleship Ministries
- Senior Adult Ministries
The position works closely with ministry staff responsible for the day-to-day implementation of these ministries.
Essential Functions
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive vision for discipleship and spiritual formation across all stages of life.
- Create and oversee a cohesive discipleship pathway that supports growth from first-time guest through mature discipleship.
- Ensure ministry goals and initiatives align with the church’s mission, vision, and values.
- Evaluate ministry effectiveness and recommend improvements to strengthen disciple-making outcomes.
Staff Leadership and Collaboration
- Supervise and support staff leaders within assigned ministry areas.
- Foster collaboration among ministry teams to ensure continuity and alignment across life stages.
- Lead regular planning, communication, and coordination efforts among ministry leaders.
- Encourage innovation while maintaining alignment with the church’s overall mission and strategy.
Ministry Development
- Guide the development of age-appropriate opportunities for worship, learning, service, community, and spiritual growth.
- Help ministries identify and implement best practices for disciple formation.
- Ensure smooth transitions between life stages and ministry areas.
- Work with staff and volunteers to identify emerging needs and opportunities within the congregation.
Volunteer Development
- Support the recruitment, training, and retention of volunteers across assigned ministry areas.
- Promote a culture of servant leadership and spiritual growth among ministry volunteers.
- Encourage leadership development and succession planning within ministries.
Planning and Administration
- Participate in annual planning and goal-setting processes.
- Assist with budgeting and resource allocation for assigned ministry areas.
- Monitor ministry metrics and outcomes.
- Collaborate with other church departments to support church-wide initiatives and events.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated Christian faith and commitment to the mission of the church.
- Experience in ministry leadership, staff supervision, organizational leadership, or related fields.
- Strong strategic thinking, leadership, and team-building skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and church leadership.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Understanding of discipleship, spiritual formation, and ministry across multiple life stages.
- Bachelor’s degree required; theological education or ministry experience preferred.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
