Duties
- Dispense medications accurately while adhering to hospital protocols and safety standards
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to develop and adjust medication therapy plans
- Monitor patient responses to medications, especially in critical care units such as ICU, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), and trauma centers
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine appropriate medication dosages and administration routes
- Manage IV infusions and aseptic techniques for sterile medication preparations in compliance with hospital policies
- Provide expert consultation on complex cases involving acute pain management, anesthesia, and emergency treatments
- Educate patients and staff on medication usage, potential side effects, and safety precautions
- Maintain detailed documentation of medication administration, patient interactions, and clinical interventions
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of pharmacology, physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology
- Proven experience in hospital medicine with a focus on critical care environments such as Level I Trauma Centers and Level II trauma centers
- Strong background in managed care settings with an understanding of formulary management and medication reimbursement processes
- Hands-on experience with pharmacy residency programs or post-residency clinical pharmacy practice
- Skilled in patient service delivery with excellent communication abilities for patient assessment and education
- Expertise in acute care settings including emergency rooms, ICU units, and pediatric wards (Pediatrics)
- Proficiency in medication administration techniques, IV infusion preparation, and aseptic procedures
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations involving emergency response scenarios requiring rapid decision-making
- Knowledge of pain management strategies, including acute pain protocols and opioid stewardship
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to trauma, critical care, pediatrics, and hospital medicine
