Position Summary
The Annapolis Yacht Club is seeking a dynamic, innovative Beverage Manager to join our team! The Beverage Manager is responsible for overseeing all beverage operations across the Club, ensuring an exceptional and consistent experience for members and guests. This role combines operational leadership with advanced sommelier-level expertise in wine and beverage curation. The Beverage Manager will elevate the Club’s beverage program through thoughtful selection, education, and service, while upholding the traditions and high standards of Annapolis Yacht Club.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all bar and beverage service operations, including dining outlets, bars, and special events
- Maintain a strong presence on the floor and build relationships with members
- Address member feedback and resolve service concerns with professionalism
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive beverage program, including curated wine lists, cocktail menus, craft beer selections, and non-alcoholic offerings
- Design and manage an evolving wine program, including cellar organization, inventory, and procurement of premium and allocated wines
- Provide tableside wine service and recommendations, including decanting, proper presentation, and food pairing guidance
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef to create seasonal pairing menus, wine dinners, and tasting experiences
- Lead wine education initiatives for staff, including formal training sessions on varietals, regions, service techniques, and pairing principles
- Host and execute member-facing wine events, tastings, and educational seminars
- Maintain vendor relationships with wineries, distributors, and importers to source high-quality and unique selections
- Manage beverage inventory, ordering, and cost control to meet financial targets
- Ensure proper storage, rotation, and preservation of wines and other beverages
- Train, mentor, and supervise bartenders and service staff on beverage knowledge and elevated service standards
- Ensure compliance with all local and state alcohol regulations and health standards
- Monitor industry trends and introduce innovative beverage offerings aligned with member preferences
- Assist with planning and executing club events, regattas, and private functions
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience in beverage or bar management, preferably in upscale hospitality or private clubs
- Advanced knowledge of wine, including regions, varietals, vintages, and service standards
- Experience building and managing wine programs and cellars
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- Experience with inventory management systems and cost controls
- Excellent communication and member service skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- Sommelier certification (CMS, WSET, or equivalent)
- Advanced training in wine service, cellar management, or beverage program development
- Experience in private club, yacht club, or luxury hospitality environment
- Knowledge of event and banquet beverage planning
Work Environment

Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
