Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks on over-the-road routes, adhering strictly to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Transport freight efficiently across long distances, managing routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery times.
- Load and unload various types of cargo including freight, hazardous materials (Hazmat), dangerous goods, and specialty items like automobile transportation or flatbed loads.
- Ensure proper securing of loads through manual handling techniques and equipment such as forklifts when necessary.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking for hazards related to hazardous materials or dangerous goods.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and compliance with all safety protocols.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any route or cargo issues promptly.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, especially in over-the-road (OTR) routes involving long-distance travel.
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT standards, hazardous materials regulations, and safety procedures for truck loading/unloading.
- Skilled in operating various truck types such as tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and specialized freight vehicles.
- Proficient in route planning using GPS navigation systems for efficient delivery execution.
- Ability to handle manual transmission trucks and perform manual handling tasks safely during load & unload operations.
- Experience with freight logistics cargo handling including securing loads for different types of cargo like hazardous materials or automobile transportation.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to the specific cargo handled; Hazmat certification is a plus.
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, compliance with DOT regulations, and hazard awareness during transportation of dangerous goods.

Pay: $0.50 - $0.70 per mile
